 Walk me through changing language...

I'm going to be renting a 3-series with navi in in less than 2 weeks. I suspect it'll be a new E90 with iDrive. I also suspect that it will be set to German language. A language that I don't speak. At all.

Can anyone walk me through changing the language to English? Either in German words that I will recognize... or with hand movements of the idrive controller. It'd be appreciated .

Language on the Control Display
The language on the Control Display can be set,
refer to the concept on page 16. The setting is
stored for the remote control currently in use.

1. Open the start menu.
2. Press the controller to open the menu.
3. Select "Display settings" and press the
controller.
4. Select "Languages" and press the controller.
5. Select "Text language" and press the controller.

You can switch to another language
for the display texts and navigation messages.

6. Select and activate the desired language by
pressing the controller.

german is easy. Any tiem you need a word, take two or three sentences describing the object, remove all spaces and punctuation, and run with it.

Well that sounds easy as long as those words are in English..

I should be able to figure it out .

Why do you suspect the iDrive will be in German when you get there? The delivery agent will most likely speak English if you do not speak German and will be more than happy to set your language for you.

...because this is a rental car, not european delivery.
