330i rwd??
I am trying to get a 330i, the only thing that concerns me is the RWD. Here in St. louis, it snows frequently in the winter, the road can get pretty icey. So anyone had problems taking a RWD around in winter? So far, the two cars I am debating are bmw 330i and Lancer EVO8 MR. Comments, guys? | | Reply » 330i rwd?? | In my opinion, the only thing that makes sense is the xi version with AWD. My brother-in-law has a E46 2002 and even with snows its like riding on ice skates in the winter in NJ. I also own a AWD Honda CRV that my college son now drives and I will never buy anything but an AWD vehicle in the future. Granted all seasons and AWD will not go through everything, but it is still the way to go. Good luck on your decision.

In Maryland, we get a few snows each winter, some years we get quite a few. But I think of all the times I have to drive on the roads when the road crews have not cleared them yet and it's actually just a handful of days a year. Compare that to the other 360 days or so when there is no snow actually on the roads. On those days where the road is still snow-covered, I'll just drive very slowly. I managed to get around in high school in Northern Indiana driving a '66 mustang. There is NO WAY this car can be nearly as bad in the snow as that one was!
I'll let you know if I end up regretting it.

Blizzak LM22s. deep snow that exceeded the ground clearance was the only problem. i would have to say that my 330i with snows handles the frozen stuff better than my AWD S60R with all seasons. no contest when both are on snow tires though. all seasons are really no seasons. compromise in the dry, and a compromise in the snow. awd may help you get going with all seasons, but does nothing for stopping and turning.

Go through some of the other threads on the topic and you'll see where other like myself find a RWD BMW far more stable and controlable in nasty road conditions than FWD cars.
FWD being more stable in snow is really a myth.
