Anybody tried mod the dash player?

Looking at the design and arrangement of everything, it seems like if you want an aftermarket player, it'd be quiet a bit of work to put it in there.

anyone tried this?

The whole audio system is connected with fiber optic cable and runs off a computer in the dash. Doubt you could incrementally mod the electronics much anymore. It's OEM ... or rip everything out and go completely custom.

So I guess I should go with the iDrive then, cause I really want an MP3 player.

Eh?

Did you know that:
1. The stock cd player can play mp3 cd's, AND
2. there is an auxilliary input for iPod/mp3 players in the armrest.

U can put in aftermarket headunit without tearing the entire fiberoptic system up. Check out this thread, there's a car with terra interior and an aftermarket headunit. Some member on e90post did it.
