I have discovered a glitch that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else. Sometimes I start my E90 330i and then, while the car is running, lock the door from the outisde using the key. I do this to cool down the interior before I get in. When I lock the door from the outside using the key, all of my radio/satellite and vehicle presets are instantly erased and they default to the factory presets. The other day, the language on my iDrive even changed itself to German when I did this. To restore my presets I have to turn the car off, remove the fob from the dash, lock and unlock the doors using the fob, and then re-start the car. I do this while sitting in the car. My presets are then restored. Does anyone know anything about this? It really sucks and makes no sense.  |

I must say the software programming leaves much to be desired in the E90. Though it was never very intuitive in my E46 either. I look for the day I can program a car with my individual preferences as far as menu and operational selections.

With the new 330's I think you can remove the key fob from the dash while the car is still running, right? Does this 'glitch' also happen if you lock the doors in other ways such as by using the remote or by locking them from the lock switch on the door?

I remove the key from the fob that stays in the dash to keep the car running and use the key to lock the door. 
You cannot remove the fob from the dash while the car is running and this situation with the presets only occurs when I do it as described in my original post.
