 Comfort Access FOB Sensitivity

Just curious if anyone knows the sensitivity of the Comfort Access FOB. In other words, does it work if in pants pocket, winter coat pocket, wife's purse (since my wife will be primary driver)?

If it actually has to be held in view of car, then it really defeats the purpose of having it.

As long as the key is within half a meter of the car it works! I've had it in my pants pocket, in my jacket pocket and it's been fine. I'm sure it would work in a purse aswell! The key definately doesn't need to be within line of sight - it just has to be in the immediate proximatey of the car to open/lock and inside the car to start!

I wish bmw would have a Mercedez type credit card model, so you can put it in your wallet and never worry about it

I have a 330xi on order and I haven't chosen the comfort access, but I'm thinking about it. It sounds cool, but I'm just not sure.

What happens if you have your key in your pocket and your wife is in the passenger's seat with her key in her purse. For the memory settings, if multiple keys are in range, which one does it use?

Interesting question. I hadn't even thought about the issue of conflicting FOBs being in range.

Anyone know the answer?

I think mercedes only did that for one model year then retired that method.
