 BMW Build Quality

I've heard a lot of negative comments from the friends and colleagues about BMW build quality - espacially units solod in USA:
- electrical equipment problems
- unstable electronics (lot of glitches)
- small interior elements falling out..
- mechanical problems
After searching this forum - I can not find a lot of postings about bad BMW quality.
So either the BMW owners try to be hypish about their cars ot the build quality is really good and just my friends happen to get a bad quality cars..

Anyone of you - have experienced any minor/majot problems with E90/E46?

The Build quality on my E90 seems really solid, althought I am experiencing the B-pillar ticking thing.

My Z3 (built in south carolina) had lots of little poor quaility interior plastic peices that fell of or broke or rattle (head light knob, inside door handles, glove box, center console lid, rear storage lid) but the actual build quality of the drive train and the actual car is great.

Like every new car purchase... it is the luck of the draw.

Some people will have zero problems and heap praise upon the brand, some will have too many problems and complain nonstop.

Most will fall in the middle and if they are whiny they will post nothing but negative comments, and if they take it in stride they will post helpful information on repairs and other owner experiences.

The first 30K miles its solid SOLID, but then after the 30K mark, things start to break down and get loose, like all cars, BMW is no exception. What pissed me off is the shocks they used my in M3, SACHS is such a POS, so I replaced them with Koni Shocks and the ride improved greatly, then my front and rear toe bushings, mount shocks were wearing out at 48K miles, so far my engine and transmission did not break down, nor did any other parts in the car, since I baby it to death.

For those who had issues, I bet they abuse the car, BMW are not HEAVY DUTY vehicles and can not take abuse IMO, tracking, burnouts, bumpy roads..etc...its not made for it.

Just one thing, you buy a BMW, the first 30K miles to 40K miles are great, but if you keep it after the 4yr 50K miles, then get ready to dish out more money at least approx 5K to keep it in good shape for the next 2 or 3 years 100K miles.

I have owned my car for six years/110K miles and it runs like a champ. I have had fewer problems as the car gets older.

I have had my share of problems but fortunatly they have been spaced out. I do think I have had more problems than I should have and the parts are really expensive. Even those wear and tear items are a little bit steep for me. I love the way the car drives, but the cost of ownership is becoming tiresome...

Did I mention to every one that my air bag light has come on AGAIN...every two years it comes on and another part has failed.
