I'm back in the press room at NASA at Kennedy Space Center, waiting for the shuttle Discovery to go around again following another 'WAVE OFF" for this "LANDING OPPORTUNITY", although they will get more "DATA", and I'm logged into Bimmerfest for the upteenth time---I am Pavlov's dog...a product of operant conditioning, hoping for a morsel.
Subliminally, I think I'll find my car here, or hear about it, or learn something new about it...but the damn thing is on a boat right now, and we cannot see it from the shuttle-cam, nor from any of the 175 other cameras on the shuttle. Those expensive, hi-res instruments cannot or WILL NOT pick up a Bimmerboat somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico, where, moments from now, we are told Discovery would have streaked plasma during its second LANDING OPPORTUNITY to KSC---one that has been WAVED OFF--again.
Mission Control now informs us the crew is "Ingressing their seats." I want to ingress into the seat of my Bimmer, assuming no more debris falls from the shuttle, onto the boat, through the decks, and then my moonroof, where it might impale on or scuff the six-speed stick.
No..wait. Discovery is efforting a pre-dawn landing at Edwards, now. I'm fine. My Bimmer is also fine, unless the boat has moved farther than we think to somewhere along the California coast...and in looking at the Discovery's projected track, that is a possibility. Clearly, Discovery and my Bimmer (as yet, unnamed) will cross paths, although not in the same time frame, or at the same altitude.
Where's my f'n car? Thanks to the postings here, I know I got a good deal, now, but you folks are scaring me with reports of rattling pillars and post-break-in, obsessive-compulsive psychosis. I remain mixed about my decision to spurn xenon headlights, which seem to be more trouble than they're worth.
At least they did. Now, however, we learn that the Runway 15 here at the Cape is illuminated with rows of xenons. Had I known that...
Where's my f'n car??? Just tell me...WHERE IS MY F'N CAR?
