New Software Out!
I had a chance to meet with another E90 owner is my area and he had his car reprogrammed today. On the Service Invoice it read something about OBD Port reprogramming. I'm really not sure what they meant by that, but according to his service advisor, it's suppose to alter the transmission shift points and possibly fixing the soft-stop lurch. I know OBD is the standard On-Board Diagnostics port is located on left side of the driver's footwell, but it really doesn't say what exactly was programmed. I will follow up with one of the techs on Monday.
He and I both have had issues with the soft-stop lurching after coming to a stop and was kind enough to let me try his car. The car still lurched a bit after a stop, but he felt the car is better than before. Hopefully BMW has listened and come to the realization that something needs to be done to fix this soft-stop issue. It's very troubling to have the car move at all after come to a full and complete stop.
Bests, Chris

| | Reply » New Software Out! | This coming Wednesday I'll be getting an update on my software. I am told by my dealer that it will give me DTRL and maybe the memory-seats problem will also be fixed (driver seat does not return to MY position as soon as I unlock the door). I have not noticed the soft-stop lurch that you talk about, but I'll be more attentive for that from now on.
On a different note, has anybody gotten a call from the dealship to install the storage nets in the back of the front seats that were supposed to come with the car but did not?
Also, I have noticed that sometimes after a complete stop, when I take my foot off the brake it souds like the calippers in the rear wheels make a noise has if they were stuck just before they release. Any reports on this?
I'll keep you posted as to what changed after they install the NEW software.

I'll keep you posted as to what changed after they install the NEW software. | Hi fana,
The stickiness on rear brakes are from the "hill-hold" feature. Again, another great feature on paper, but it doesn't work well in the real world. I have it on my 745Li, but on that car, at least you can turn it on and off. On the E90, it will activate on perfectly flat surfaces. The system is suppose to sense for the g-load and only turn on when on an incline. I asked the FSR about it and asked if it's a problem that hill-hold activates on flat roads. His answer: Well, it could be that you've recently been driving on hills or the computer senses road incline/declines that you can't feel." OK...ones I can't feel huh?
I found out the bulletin for the OBD port is only to repair the port. Here is the detail:
SIB 12 09 05 is only for a few specific chassis number for the following "Due to the software errors, data communication through the OBD interface may be not be possible when certain generic diagnostic scan tools are being used"
So this does not explain any improvements to the brakes, but I spoke to him again, and he says his brakes are better. We'll see...

| | Reply » New Software Out! | I got that diagnostic software update last Thursday and haven't noticed anything except...
I think updated software increased the volume of the bluetooth/bmw assist speaker. I used to operate the bluetooth at max volume, but now the volume at maximum levels is way too loud. Well, I'm happy that it is this way now b/c before the update, the volume was a bit low for my deaf ears.
Anyone else notice this?
