unlimited top speed or 150mph limiter
 went down to herb chambers bmw boston today and they put in my order to bmw! jet black,auto,premium,sport-162 style wheels,nav,comfort,heat seat,and some sirrus satelite radio!!..my question is do they take the govoner off with the sp pack totally or is it limited to 150? my order sheet says.unlimited top speed.  AND IS IT TRUE..that they can deactivate the chime for the seatbelt if u sighn a waiver?..not that i wont wear it....at speeds of over 100mph on 93  | | Reply » unlimited top speed or 150mph limiter |

Don't know about the seat-belt chime, but it sounds like a great solution to me!

My understanding the sport pack allowed 155 MPH?

I can't imagine the car's top speed is much faster than that.

According to the BMW Product info manual... (a sticky here on Bimmerfest that everyone should really read along with the owner's manual since they both answer pretty much every question you could have about the car and using it!!!!!) The top speed is limited with the Sport Package ZSP to a top speed of 149 MPH, rather than the usual 130 MPH. Seriously though read the book it has lots of great info! Good luck and enjoy

The e90 SP is still "limited" to 149mph because, wait for it; that is the maximum speed that the SP tires are rated for.
BMW [or any manufacturer] could allow their cars to be completely unrestricted as regards top speed as long as they supply the cars with the appropriately rated rubber, which is very expensive, which is why most manufacturers, particularly European ones, limit the top speed of their imports.
