318 Info
Has anyone seen any information about the 318 ? I have seen only the price at bmw.de but no details of the specifications. I think they start making them in September, i'm hoping that they will offer the same options as with 320 but you never know - perhaps they will not offer certain options to avoid you ordering a cheap engine with lots of extras.

Richard | Same engine as 118i, 129 bhp and 133 lb-ft torque - available to order now from UK dealers so I imagine it's the same for the rest of the European mainland, with deliveries from September. The UK specs and options packages are identical from 318i-320i-318d-320d.
Nothing wrong with being able to load up a smaller-engine'd model with lots of extras - that is (or has been up until now) the BMW way in European markets. I say "smaller engine", it's still a 2-litre Valvetronic motor - but with milder cams and a spot of detuning.

Richard | Andy Thomas is right, the 318i comes with the same options as the 320i. It has 95 kW (129 bhp) at 6000 rpm and 180 Nm at 3750 rpm. Production of the 318i starts in week 35 (mine is in the first batch  ) and will be at the dealer in week 37. The 318i is €2650,- cheaper (or less expensive) then the 320i. As cars in Holland are really expensive (because of taxes  ) I "just" ordered an 318i executive (which costs me over €40.000). The specs of the engine are almost the same as the BMW 118i . The 318i is a 6 speed.
