BMW announced that it will offer a diesel in the US for 2008. The X5 will recieve the 3.0d with an emmission system similar to that used in the E320 BlueTec. There has been no word yet on pricing or the output of the engine.
There is a little blurb about this in the June 07 issue of Car and Driver.

I would hope they will also sell diesel vehicles OTHER than SUVs. A 5 series D is supposed to be coming too (to compete against the E Class CDI).
I sure hope BMW engineers these diesels to burn Biodiesel fuels.....otherwise I'm not interested at all.
