In the August issue of R&T they have instrumented testing of an E90 330i with the 6-speed manual. Here are the results:
E90 330i - 6-speed manual0-60: 6.2 seconds
1/4 mile: 14.9 @ 94.1 mph
0-100: 16.9 seconds
Skidpad: 0.83g
Slalom: 66.6 mph
80-0 braking: 209 ft
A quote from the article...
Quote:
Sadly, we clocked a best 0-60 mph time of 6.2 seconds - actually 0.1 seconds slower than the last BMW 330i sedan we tested (July 2002). But it's the improved handling that really makes the 330i shine...
The steering is also similar to that of 3 Series of old, enjoyably quick and precise, though the feedback is not quite as rich and communicative as that found in the late '90's E36 model, a car that's one of our all-time favorites. |
For comparison, here are the stats from their July 2002 E46 330i road test:
E46 330i - 5-speed manual0-60: 6.1 seconds
1/4 mile: 14.7 @ 96.3 mph
0-100: 15.9 seconds
Skidpad: 0.86g
Slalom: 65.4 mph
80-0 braking: 230 ft
I present these road test results without further comment, since I may be accused of E90 bashing.

(...actually I'm a bit disappointed, but of course it may just be this one car that didn't perform well that day...we'll see as more magazines conduct tests)
