I see where the 2007 models get 4 years of BMW assist. I got only one year paid on my 06 by BMW NA. Is it worth having? I think the cost is about $240 a year.

I just received a renewal notice at $ 199 per year. I am not going to renew it.
Note: cost of the 4 year subscription in 2007 models is built in to the cost of the car.

I never used it, but I would order a car with it just to get the bluetooth capability. It pisses me off to pay over $700 just to have bluetooth capability from the factory.

Think about it. People were not renewing their assist plans because it is too expensive and very little value. So to solve their problem, BMW raised the price of the cars and included 4 years of assist to meet contract obligations with verizon and the call center. Caveat, you still have to buy the Assist/bluetooth module to actually get assist working. So even if you don't, they pay the service provider for the service. I wrote a letter to BMW stating the BMW assist/telematics does not work. I even did a poll on bimmerfest. Nobody even got a call from BMW for service. i.e. Their cars were suppose to call the dealer for service and the dealer would call you with an appointment or trouble codes. BMW quickly pulled the add from the TV. You get 4 years roadside assistance for free. If you have a cell, Assist is worthless. The only features it has that are worthwhile is the collision/airbag notification, and theft recovery. That is assuming the device is working properly and you are in cell range. I

chuck i just turned in my 06 lease. but i renewed it. waste of money the only 2 things its good for . 1 they call if airbags are deployed.?? thank you bmw 2. they help track stolden car..??? i think it would be nice for this to be with the car for 4 yrs and make you pay for the other plan they have as its a luxury.but an accident is a need to help out..and tracking car come on how much do they do that they can not help...also when buying assist if you get a demo you get what's left on the first year . not a full year. so if you buy a demo make sure you ask.. bob
