 Sirius Satellic Radio

Strange as it may seem, it is cheaper to buy this radio as after market and installed by dealer than directly from the factory. Mine was included from the factory for $595, without a one year subscription. From the dealer it is $495 ($100 less) and they include a one year subscription (value$167). The dealer will charge an installation fee, probably around $100. Everthing considered it is about $150 dollars cheaper from the dealer than preinstalled at the factory. I called BMWNA customer ralations/service department for an explanation-very polite, but could not give me a reason except that it was a "promotion".

Huh? I thought with the factory ordered option, you receive one year of activation for free. I've seem lots of people here that have gotten the 1 yr free.

I can confirm factory installed Sirius unit comes with 1-year prepaid. I already spoke to Sirius and locked into the "lifetime plan" for $499 minus the 1 year BMW credit.

Also the labor charge to install the radio will be over $100+ ($90 per hour) therefore it is in fact cheaper to get it factory installed.
