Hello everyone, I had a little mishap today. I spun on a slow turn, lost control and hit the curbside, the result 2 diver side rims broken and the rear wheel out of line like pointing inward... so the joke can be quite expensive... my insurance deductible is $1000. My question is how a claim may affect my premiums in the future. Should I take care of myself if the repair is in the range of $2000 or... what number would be reasonable...
I would like to hear your input, thank you!!!
Rick (the bad driver, i'm sad...)

If the repair is 2k and your deductible is 1k then I would pay for it myself. It also depends on your driving record how it will affect your premiums. My policy has one accident forgiveness and I would not use that up on a 2k accident. I would suggest getting an estimate as your damage may exceed 2k.

i had the same problem. hopefully you read this before you call them. i would pay $2500 in you place before calling them. i had a bumper and headlight damage to my 5 series. i was honest and tryed to be fair no tickets and accidents or claims 10 yrs . 1000 dect. also 2500 or so cash would have fixed it .. bottom line i paid 1000.00 dect. and my ins went up $450 yr for 3 yrs and i got 1 strike against me.. local ins guy. told me 2k claim is the same as 2million. once you get x amount of $$$ it would not matter if it were 20k damage. but you may one of the few guys that dont get raised. AIG . MY COMPANY. i would never take this chance. bob
