 Problem with BMW assist

I picked up my e90 330i 3 weeks ago. I easily got the bluetooth working. My CA asked me to check the BMW assist and to do this by using the dash control for the assist. When I tried this for consumer relations or assist, I got an "active" message however the call did not go through. We then pushed the SOS button, it started to make the call, then dropped the call, then picked it up and completed the call to BMW assist. The car is currently in sevice at the dealer for this. Now the real problem. The service dept is unsure if a bluetooth phone is required for the dashboard call to BMW assist or if it goes through the assist phone. They are believe this could be a software problem which has yet to be upgraded. (Like the auto door locks and the DRL). Has anyone else encountered this?

I do not have a bluetooth phone and I made my first call to BMW Assist with no problems.

Was you call made via the dash control or the SOS button? Thanks for your reply.
