Nav with iDrive vs. Hertz "Neverlost"
I'm currently renting a Camry with Hertz's "neverlost" Nav system. My 330i on order will have Nav/iDrive, but my fiancée actually needs the Navigation more than I do. We're both impressed with the Hertz "Neverlost" system, which seems easy to use and accurate in its prompts, catalog of restaurants/hotels, etc., and readability while driving. I'm sure the Neverlost is based on something available commerically. Anyone know what it is? I may buy one for her Honda Accord. How much more difficult will it be for me to learn the iDrive's Nav features than the Hertz Neverlost? Thanks so much. | | Reply » Nav with iDrive vs. Hertz "Neverlost" | Quote: I'm currently renting a Camry with Hertz's "neverlost" Nav system. Thanks so much. | I believe the Neverlost system is made by Megallan. They have a Roadmate series of devices you can find in many places and all over the internet.

Thanks so much. | Is that with a touchscreen? Also, can you search an address by a place/business name?

Thanks so much. | I always rent cars from Hertz with Neverlost, that is what got me hooked on Nav systems. I also think the Neverlost is made by Magellan. The Nav in my E90 takes a bit more time to learn at first (then again my previous experience was only using Neverlost) but I feel it it just as good ( i used it to find businesses, personal addresses, hotels, restaurants and gas stations without any glitches)and as a matter of fact it has never lost its tracking ability yet, whereas the Neverlost would get "confused" about 25% of the time and either lose the GPS signal and do nothing or show the vehicle position somewhere off the road I was actually driving on. So I would recommend the Nav in the 3 Series or an aftermarket unit for your fiancee.
