I understand that the 330 will be offered with SMG in September. I love stick shift but wife cannot drive it. Wife will use car only occasionally. Is auto mode on SMG sufficient for occasional use or should I concede the need and get steptronic?

Auto mode in SMG blows chunks. Get the steptronic, or even better, teach your wife to row gears.

My wife could not get the hang of clutch-shift-gas -- she could never get her feet to work right and with 3 little kids in the car never was comfortable learning (and stalling). Does anyone have experience with teaching an automatic driver to use smg when never driven stick. She understands the concept but feared the mechanics of the clutch. Can I make this work or again back to steptronic.

The SMG will not be offered on the U.S. car. At least for now, the option has been cancelled. Steptronic it is for you then
