Finally had a chance to take a long drive

I got my E90 at the end of May but due to alot of business travel I haven't had a chance to really go for a decent drive until this week on a trip to San Diego and back. The car is awesome, the navigation worked flawlessly for me- finding business addresses, personal addresses, hotels, restaurants and gas stations. For a sales guy (which I am) the nav is priceless. After about 10 minutes of playing with the various modes, it is pretty easy to master. I -Drive is not that difficult, if you can uses a PC or Mac, it's not much different- it takes some time at first but once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake and quite useful. The voice commands work quite well too, I switched between "FM ON", "FM 97.1" to "CD ON" "track 5" to "AUXillary Input" and was able to use my Archos Gmini from the Aux input. The ride is excellent, I set the speed warning at 90mph but still set it off a few times around the 5 freeway N of San Diego.... And no wind buffetting with the sunroof open and the windows closed!
The car is quiet, stable and smooth. The cruise control was a real treat- the speed shows briefly on the dash display then the little white marker flies up to the set speed and flies down when CC is disabled. The climate control worked well, the outside temp reading takes a few minutes but then stabilizes to an accurate reading. This is my first BMW so maybe I am going "gaga" over some things that many of you already know. Before buying the E90, I test drove the Lexus GS300 and Infinit M35, neither one came close to the driving experience that the 330i offers. The GS300 felt like my old VW Passat in regards to steering feel and the acceleration was not too impressive, handling was not as precise as the 330. The Infiniti was nice but was not as nimble, did not offer fold down rear seats and had a dash that was waaay too busy. I find the controls in the 330i easy to use and logically placed. I am looking forward to many happy miles with this car. .

Congratulations. I agree that for salespeople or those on the go a lot to new places all the time a nav system is a huge help.

This is also my first BMW, I picked it up last night and I am going gaga over every bit of it. No worries. Drive safely and enjoy

Congratulations as well. My 330i is not up for production until the 3rd week of July so I will continue to live vicariously through those that have theirs. Did you try out the Bluetooth?

Good question, I currently use Verizon and the one Bluetooth phone that they offer that is compatible with BMW is "out of stock". I may have to change cell providers 'cause I need Bluetooth.

You have got to get a Bluetooth phone... it works great. My wife especially loves it as she can answer the phone without taking her hands of the wheel.

Thanks for the input. That will be very convenient. Where is the microphone?
