 330i 18" Perf Tire Rotation

Anybody have any idea how long between rotations is average and/or appropriate?

You can't rotate them, the rear wheels/tires are larger than the fronts. Same goes for the 325i SP.

On my E46 330i sport with staggered wheels I swap them left to right and vice versa at approximately 15k miles. I do this by having them dismounted and remounted. This is the only way to do it as the tires are unidirectional and the wheels are staggered. I'm in a cold weather climate so I have a separate set of snow tires and wheels. The 15K number is basically because I do it every two years. If I do this, then my rear tires (potenza s-03s) will be about evenly worn when it is time to replace them and after only 1 "rotation". Note that if you don't do this then the passenger rear tire will wear far ahead of the rest of the tires and you end up replacing 2 or 4 tires when you really only need 1.

What the...every 15k miles you swap? How the hell are you getting over 15k miles out of 18s? I've never gotten better than 14k out of a set.

I find this a bit strange, because the owner's manual recommended swapping front to rear and never left to right (This could cause a tire to become "rounded", more worn on the outsides than in the middle)...? I may miss something here but any input would be valuable, has anyone heard the same?

You didn't miss anything. The tires of the SP BMWs should not be rotated or swapped from left to right at all as per BMW recommendations. Not only are the tires of SP BMWs different sizes from front to rear, but a certain amount of toe-in is engineered into the rear wheel alignment to enhance cornering ability. This causes the inside edge of the rear tires to wear faster than the outer edge. Swapping sides will result in a certain "rounding" of the tire to say nothing of the diminished handling characterisics that would result. In any event it's not recommended--certainly not on SP equiped vehicles.
