Need to get BMW Assist if you want Bluetooth?

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question. I know there are plenty of threads on Bluetooth, but I have never seen a direct answer to the following question.

If you want Bluetooth installed in your E90 by BMW, is the only way to get this to buy the "BMW Assist with Bluetooth Technology" option at $750? (I know there are also packages that include this option.)

I would hope not, since I have no interest in BMW Assist. Because I intend to get iDrive (which I believe does NOT include Bluetooth), all I want to be able to do is use my Bluetooth phone and have this integrated with iDrive (for example, see the caller's name on the screen, etc.). I have no need for a charging cradle and would like to be able to keep the phone anywhere in the car. And just to be clear, I would not be interested in a third party "after market" solution that gets tacked onto the dashboard and is not integrated with the rest of the car.

If this is possible, any idea of the cost?

Thanks.

You can't REALLY be serious... I did a search... and in .04 seconds I got several links... by clicking on the first one:

... IF you would have actually read the thread, would have given you your answer.

You need Assist if you want integrated Bluetooth.

Just an aside. The cost of installing a BT kit retrofitted into a MY 2004 and early 2005 was close to the $750 dollars that the Assist/BT option costs now. The kit was about $450 discounted and the dealer charged 3 hours ($300) for installation. Though the retro kit was better because voice activation was part of that kit so you could tell the car to dial a certain number or as personal dictation machine.

Voice activation comes with the E90 and Assist.
