Suppose you're planning on keeping your new E90 for at least 100,000 miles / 5 years (I do a lot of miles on my commute, so I probably put on 20k per year). Do you think it's worth purchasing an extended warranty and/or extended maintenance?
WarrantyDirect.com was recommended by someone and thier online quote for a 6yr/100k, $0 deductible warranty is around $2200...
FYI, It covers bumper to bumper except for these exclusions: http://www.warrantydirect.com/warran...e.asp#coverage
What do you think? Worth it?
I'm also looking around for extended maintenace too... I hear that might be good to get since the cost of it may more than make up for the Inspection II costs...

Warranty Direct is probably your best bet, especially if you are living in California. Read more about 3rd party extended warranties here:

did you read the exclusions? I can't think of a part on the car that they didn't exclude. Bumper to Bumper? more like Bumper and Bumper.

Doesn't BMW offer an extended maintenance program? Anyone know about it?

I went to the warrant direct website, I saw the extended warranty option, but where is the extended maintenance option??

WarrantyDirect only sells extended warranties and not extended maitenances.... I think I would have to go to a dealer to get an extended maitenance? (not sure)
Also, I'm no mechanic, so I'm not sure how restrictive the exclusions are on WD. From what I gather, the exclusionary bumper-to-bumper is the most comprehensive coverage you can get....
The exclusions are:
"Carburetor; battery; shock absorbers; manual transmission clutch assembly; friction clutch disc and pressure plate; throw out bearing; manual and hydraulic linkages; distributor cap and rotor; safety restraint systems; glass; lenses; sealed beams; light bulbs; brake rotors and drums; exhaust and emission systems; weather strips; trim; moldings; bright metal; chrome; upholstery and carpet; paint; outside ornamentation; bumpers; body sheet metal and panels; tires; wheels/rims; GPS navigation systems; phone systems and TV/video/entertainment systems.
Maintenance services and parts described in your vehicle's owner's manual as supplied by the manufacturer. (i.e. oil changes, tune-ups, brake pads, belts, hoses and spark plugs)"
Now... are those commonly exlcuded? Most of it seems like it's body-related. Are the rest commonly items that might fail and would need repair??
