Short shift kit owners: Valet print-out...

I have to valet my car 2-3 times a year. I *hate* it... but when I'm going into San Francisco, I rarely have a choice.

More times than not, I'll sit there and watch the valet person burn up my clutch attempting to reverse the car while it's in 6th gear. I've got a short shift kit and a momo knob without a shift pattern. I decided to simply print this out and keep it in the glove box (along side this for when the car goes to the dealer):

...do any SMG owners have interesting valet stories?

Thanks! *Prints diagram*

I dread having to take my car to valet parking. I haven't had to do it yet and I am wondering how long I can avoid it

For 2 or 3 times a year I'd rent a car. No worries.

Even with an automatic transmission, I cringe at the thought of using valet parking. For one, they almost always neglect to stop the car before shifting between R and D. Now, I know plenty of people who do this and there may be some on this board, but dropping it from R to D while still going backwards at like 5mph doesn't rest well with me.

I have a 528i 5 speed, and my own mother could not find reverse for the first few months of ownership. I printed your wonderful diagram, since when I rarely valet park they will not bother to look on the shifter knob to find reverse. I bet SMG owners avoid valet parking like a nail in the road. So thanks so much for making our lives easier. You deserve a Gold Star
