I have a question on the motion sensor. We have a dog that we have to occassionally leave in the back of our 530XiT. When we do leave him in the car, we either leave the sunroof partly open or some of the windows cracked.
The other day I was trying to deactivate the motion sensor and everytime I walked off about 20 seconds after the alarm set it went off. So I figured the motion sensor wasn't deactivating.
In reading the manual (many times) it says to lock the car and then hit the lock key again. This is simple enough but the manual suggests when you hit the lock a second time the lights will flash continually for a few moments. When I do it this isn't happening and I can't seem to get it quite right.
I hit the alarm which causes a loud beep and the lights to flash once. If I hit it again, nothing happens. If I hit it quickly twice in a row nothing happens either apart from the regular lock beep and single flash.
I've tried lots of combinations of timing the lock button and nothing quite seems to work.
Does anyone have any decent suggestions on how to do this?

Lock the car with the usual press of the roundel and press and hold it again for a few seconds, that disables the motion sensor.

OK, I must be dumb because I can only get this to work occassionally. I *think* that if it works correctly the car doesn't beep when it locks, whereas a normal lock with motion and movement sensors on makes the car beep once. If that's right then I know what I'm looking for.
Having said that I had the dickens of a time getting it to work. I even got the locks into a state where it wouldn't unlock the car! I think that might be because locking successfully turning off the motion sensor means you have to leave the car a few seconds (maybe 20) before you try and unlock it again. My wife came home as I was trying it and she tried it too and got it into a state where it wouldn't unlock aswell.
This doesn't seem very straight forward?!
