I'm thinking of getting an E90 with the Sports package & terra leather but I don't want the Premium package.
My dealer tells me the cost of the leather seats alone is very close to the premium package so it's best to get Premium. Is this true?
How much extra should it really cost to get terra leather on top of sports package?

Invoice on leather upholstery is $1320 compared with invoice of $2000 on the premium package on the 330i and $2640 on the 325i (you also get power seats). Add the extra cost of California sales tax and the difference is even bigger.

Incidentally, he's probably telling you this because he wants you to buy a car off the lot or one he can get from another dealer's inventory. If you get leather w/o the premium you/he will have to order the car and that means a wait of several weeks. There are a couple reasons dealers don't like to do this. You could change your mind and reclaim your deposit (they can't keep it in Calif.), you could renegotiate the deal in that time, he could be stuck with a spec ordered car that he thinks it will be harder to sell if you walk away from the deal several weeks from now, etc. Also, better for him if the deal closes completely sooner.

If you get leather and BMW Assist/Bluetooth then the PP is not much more.

WHoa, the increased price for the sports package includes sport seats. This is worth the extra cash over the life of a car. A bmw needs to hold you firm, and the plain seats do not.
