Is it true that the IDrive version of the 325i doesn't support MP3 playback?
If so has anyone even tried putting in a Mp3 disc and seeing what happens?
This is depressing news........... It's like being punished for taking advantage of the "technologically advanced interior"
That's just weak.........

Yes ... but if you install the optional CD changer the changer will play Mp3's. BTW, BMW's electronic software development is always behind the curve.

For the fun of it, I burned the identical song in 3 formats
in
1) CD Music format 2) MP3 format 3)WMA-windows media
MP3 sounded very thin and weak no bass.
WMA was almost as good as the music format.

I tried an MP3 cd on the demo they have witch has Logic7, iDrive /w Navi Pro and CD Changer. When the cd was inserted in the dash cd player it did not recognise there even was a CD inside. Then i remembered i have to put it in the changer. Same thing though, it would not get recognised whatever we tryed. Me and my dealer were both like... WTF?!? I think it needs a software upgrade or something like that too work.

I don't think the CD Changer option which already sounds IFFY is a good purchase for the money for a MP3 solution.
I am just going to work on configuring this IPOD flawlessly and use that.

At the Freimann delivery center in Munich, I asked about the MP3/nav issue a few weeks ago. I was told that the update is scheduled to be released in the Fall that allows MP3 playback from the dash CD player.
