I wonder about that. At our local (small) dealership, they've sold just one off the lot since they arrived over a month ago. In fact, the car I test drove had been there, untouched, since early May.
I was told there was a shipment of nine cars on the way in, one of which was spoken for.
Also, reasonable discounts are being offered at BMW of North Haven, one of our area's largest dealers.
I've checked inventory at many BMW dealers here in the northeast; there seems to be no shortage of cars available, with plenty in stock.
This is Fairfield County CT, a "hot" part of the country, so if E90's are flying out the door, that should be the case here.

Considering that I have yet to see a single 'AMV' sticker on a new e90 I doubt they are selling like "hotcakes". You could still find [as little as a year ago] 'AMV' stickers on Accords.
I would not be surprised if they are selling through pretty well; that is that due to the relatively low initial supply to a relatively high pent-up initial demand for the early-adopters.
Seems like there is a lot of talk here about people getting cars for anywhere from $2,000 to as little as $1,000 over invoice. If the car were really that hot I would not think that such deals would be [or seem to be] so readily available.

Hi from Spain, the situation here seems to be quite different. You can find just a few (very few) cars in stock, mostly 325/330, but if you order one the delay is pretty long, around three months. In fact I ordered a 320i (not sold in the US if I'm not mistaken) on April 18th and I'm lucky becauase it will arrive in a couple of weeks, hopefully.

I think at the end of April all the dealers were given 4 cars at the same time and have to hold on to them until regular supplies kick in...which should be right around now.

May just be a slow start since the general public doesn't really know about it. As more are on the road and others see them, sales will snowball.

We are a relatively small dealership and have sold at least 10, and i know some have been spoken for and still on order. Also i know of at least two cars that have had overheating problems related to the new electric water pump. I changed one of them and schaeffer bmw had the other one. spelling may not correct for that dealer.
