Pushing e90 to the limit
Finally I am over the 1200 mile ease-in period and REALLY drove my car for the first time this weekend.
I live in an area with a lot of awesome country twisting roads and no police department (you can tell why I moved here), so I really get to push the cars the way they were designed. The difference between my new e90 325i Stick Sport and my previous 2002 e46 Sport Stick is astounding. It amazes me that so much advancement can be made on a car that was already pretty good. My e46 had upgraded summer tires (GS-F1) but the stock tires on the e90 combined with the new handling gear DESTROYS the e46 when driving hard into a corner...you know that moment when you are taking the turn hard, over twice the recommended speed, dropping it into second, ready to pull out, the revs are dropping down from the 6,000 range and as you apply the gas the e46 used to slide out? That moment has gone: the e90 is glued to the road and won't let go and surprises you with it's Porsche like physics defying grip. You can feel the race course testing coming out the harder you try to push it and I must both bow and applaude the designers brilliance.
In conclusion, I am fully resigned to opening up a flame war when I declare that those people who have said they are not impressed by the e90's performance are out of their mind.

In conclusion, I am fully resigned to opening up a flame war when I declare that those people who have said they are not impressed by the e90's performance are out of their mind. | I threw an E90 3.0 sport pkg. around a twisty BMW track a few weeks ago, for about 30 laps; and got the vehicle to drift out quite nicely. But it basically had to be floored around S curves with fast tight steering input to drift.
Very controlled and precise and always predicatable at the limit. We did things on the track that one would never do in 'normal' day to day driving.
I would never have driven my own car at the limits I drove at the test track! However I am with you - the designers did an excellent job.
In an emergency manouver you can feel confident that this car will do what few other cars in the world will do.

I've got a couple of good curvy back roads that led up to my development and the E90 is an absolute joy to run through them. I've yet to feel like I've started to "lose" control of the vehicle despite pushing the limit.

I now live in flat, straight roads Virginia Beach area, and haven't been able to fully enjoy the capabilities of my 330 w/ZSP. (not to mention it only has 320 miles on it). Can't wait to take it "home" this summer for some twisty fun. psyran

I live in an area where I have been able to drive the car as you described and beyond. Of course, I've done the track thing too! I've already been to 155 a number of times... Incredible car... just amazing in every way!!!
