general guess is 10% of the total cost. for a better breakdown checkout http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures...cts/ffvr10.htm. I was looking at this information last night.

Just curious, what options did you end up getting to get that price? I just put in an order for my 325 last week (also in CA). The total was $36,165 with sport package, power seats, xenon, and nav...

Sales tax depends on the county you reside in (not where you by the car). For example, I think San Francisco charges 8.5% sales tax. Ask a dealer in your county to find out or call up your local chamber of commerce. I think the DMV fees for License and Doc were lowered shortly after Arnold took office but I don't know what they are.

Yup, my dealership charged a slightly lower sales tax based on where I live rather than where the dealerships was located. People generally estimate about 10% total fees for tax/license/registration, but the real number should be closer to 9%. Registration fees tripled to approx. 2% of the price of the car right before Arnold took office, but he immediately lowered them again and everyone who got caught in the middle paying the higher fee received a refund check from the state.
