 E90 Seatbelt Problem

Only 985 miles and I get my first service visit. This morning my seatbelt was locked in the retracted position, and would not release. Drove straight to the dealer since the seatbelt reminder chime and unsafe feeling of driving unbelted immediately drove me nuts. Still waiting to hear their assessment.

This might be the first official problem reported for the e90, if you don't count gripes about iDrive and minor computer-controlled options. Of course, this is something I'm prepared to deal with since I knowingly bought an early production run of a first model year. No whining, just hoping to get it back soon. I've got some driving to do this weekend!

Still love the car!

Wow, I hope they get that fixed. That seatbelt reminder chime is very very annoying though.

I'm getting a persistent rattle from the seat belt cylinder on the driver side when the car is moving. It's very annoying and find myself cranking up the radio to hide the rattle. It just started at the 250 mile mark. I'm debating on whether to give it some time and hope it goes away or take it to the dealer now.

Can the seatbelt reminder chime be disabled somehow?

The dealer ended up having to replace the whole seatbelt mechanism. They had to order the part, so I got a loaner car for the night. My car was ready the next morning. Good as new.
