 325 vs 330 questions

Hello...

I am looking at a 325 (manual, sport, folding back seat), but have become curious about the 330 (more power....similar mileage) The plan is to buy and keep 10-20 years. The 325 is where my budget is, but if there were long term advantages (over and above more power) I would consider the 330

Are there any onther differences in the 330 that would add to longevity.....I recall reading that the breaks are bigger and the tranmission is a heavier duty (if older) design.

Is the suspension identical...or is the base 330 suspension tune more sportlike because of the car's performance orientation? I like the idea of sport, but it appear that that stagger tires will be a pain for a change to all seasons (yes I know....get winter tires

are there any real differences between the 325i manual sport seats and the 330 power sport seats?

any other pros/cons

thanks

I remember on the E46 the differences, besides the engine were the brakes (1 inch bigger discs) and a stronger alternator. I have a 2000 323i and never changed the alternator, and also found the braking to be really strong, so if you think 40 hp and bigger discs are worth the difference, that's your call... Do you red-light race that much? The 325i is plenty sporty, IMHO (Engine power is just for a straight line, but is it really that fun? Sport package handles the same on both cars when the curves come!).

Something I doubt, that the E90 transmissions be different on the 325i and 330i. It doesn't make much sense to have different sets of transmissions that are all six-speeds so I question this information.

Oh and by the way, the 325i makes without the chrome line around the windows, that's a matter of taste but for me, it's a plus.

Thing is, when I price a 325i with options I must have, the price gets too darn close to the 330i for me to justify getting the 325.

325i
Metallic paint
Power seats
Xenon
Leather
Sport package
1k dealer profit

ED: 32180

330i
Metallic paint
Leather
sport package
1k dealer profit

ED: 35620

3.5k more for logic 7, auto lights/washers, 40 more hp, bigger brakes, 18 inch rims. In for a penny, in for a pound. I'd rather pay a little more now and enjoy the car more later.

Auto lights/washer are now standard on 325i also

But if you are getting leather and power seats on the 325i, you may as well get the premium package. You'll get some extras for about the same money.

Double check your math, because when I compare a 325i with Xenons, ZPP, and ZSP to a 330i with ZSP and ZPP, the difference is more like $4500.

EDIT - At cost, my configuration difference is about $3700.

Auto headlights are standard - Headlight washers come courtesy of the cold weather package.
