Finally BMW Phil has responded to my emails concerning special ordering a manual tranny 320d. The product person handling my request said that it could take up to 6 months for my order to be filled because they had to homoginized(?) or detune(?) it for our roads. So my question now is if you were in my place would you wait half a year?
The situation here is that BMW Phil is just offering in the steptronic tranny (no 6 speed manuals) of the 320i, 325i and 330i. The performance and fuel figures of the petrol version doesnt impress me much and I would rather have the diesel version.

I would wait. I would not want to drive a 320d A - the 6-speed manual is perfect for that car and I wish that I would have had that (6-speed, not 5-speed) on my E46 320.

Is BMW going to ship the BMW 320d here in North America??, seeing as there is a great demand for them.

Seeming VW & MB brought in their diesels I dont think BMW will let themselves be left behind though I wouldnt be surprised if they waited til the US improves their diesel in a few months time.

When this happens, we will see more diesels coming our way from Europe, where the sulfur content is (<10ppm).
