 Air Conditioned Cupholder

I'm shocked noone's mentioned this. In the arm rest storage area is an airconditioned cupholder. I asked the dealer "hey what does this little switch in here do?" And he said it opens the vent. So I stuck my hand down there and it was cold! Silly Germans

But not a BMW invention. I drove a Opel Omega (german GM brand) in 1989 that had a dual section glove compartment. In one compartment you could open a vent from the Aircon to keep your drink cold and your chocolat from melting. I´ve seen similar on several GM cars since then.

So BMW is just catching up in the cupholder department...

According to the manual, it draws air from the vents to the rear of the car, and the temperature is controlled by the setting for the rear, so I guess if you have it cranked up your chocolate will melt!
