One thing I've not seen mentioned much is Bangle's crew's elimination of the ding and paint chip preventing rub strips on the flanks of the car. The Z4 and the new 5 are similarly afflicted. Flame surfacing may have me flaming Mr. Bangle a few years down the road after some parking lot indignities. What do you all think of this? |

7 DAYS!!!!!! | I did that with my 323i, and am maniac about it now that I have a 325ci... it may look funny sitting all by itself at the other end of the parking lot, but at least it won't get dings!!!

I'm glad to see them go, never had any door ding problems anyway (Well, one, but the Town Car that did it missed the rub strip anyway). So, I've thrown away all my Armor-All, Wurths, Black Beauty and whatever. Now I can use the hour it used to take after a wash blacking the damn strips to....clean the damn ZHP/M3 wheels and trim the hairballs off the steering wheel (Much better use of time though).

Sure the rub strips can help....but I've managed to get them (not on my 5 yet) on just about every car/truck I've owned. Given all the different cars/trucks/SUVs out there..there just isn't a rub strip big enough to protect you 100%.
Notice all the Japanese luxo-boxes are coming without them now.
