E90 test drive vs my E46

I drove the new 330 today. Is it just me or is the new 330 not much faster than the old one? The car handled great, better than my 330 coupe, but when I floored it, I heard a louder engine but not much difference in the acceleration. It seemed to have a bit more torque when starting from a dead stop. (I test drove an automatic with steptronic and that's what I have on my E46, so I'm comparing apples to apples) Also, the steptronic is suppossed to be more responsive than the old one but it felt very similar.

As far as looks, the car looked great on the exterior with the sport package, the interior is nice, even with the flatter dash but it could be better... the buttons for the windows are on the door and seem a little too far away to operate without having to reach for them. The sport seats felt great.

Overall the car looks great but the performance wasn't that much better than my E46. I'm now having second thoughts about buying one...

Maybe I was too timid with the pedal since the car was brand new but what does everyone else think?

Also drove one today, I thought it was deceptively quick, it is a lot quieter and smoother than my ZHP of course. I was a little surprised when I glanced down and seeing I'm already at 80mph on the offramp. I remember when I testdrove a ZHP (stick!) before I bought one it seemed slower than this, comparing new vs new, obviously they get a lot quicker over the first 10 000 miles

Read my thread below "just test drove 330i", I agree with you and so do others on roadfly.org..... I also did not like the sharp line at the top of the dash.. Other than that I still give it

That's what i keep hearing, that it' soo quiet and smooth that you'll be going over the speed limit before you know it. Both a good and a bad problem

I never saw the point of 'deceptively quick,' if it doesn't feel fast, who cares if it is fast? It's not like we're racing for money, or even racing.

I want it to be fast, whether I can feel it or not, when I am merging onto the highway and a semi is in the #2 lane coming at me or when I am trying to pass on a 2 lane road!!
