Greetings, I live in Somerville, New Jersey. I can feel my brakes going on my 325i. I imagine getting brake work done at the dealer will cost quite a bit. Would I be better off taking my car to an independent BMW mechanic? Would I be getting the same quality work done at a better price? Does anyone out there know of any independent BMW mechanics in my area that are trustworthy?

If you want to drive up 287 to Wyckoff I recommend Motor Works West
How about a DIY?

A brake job is a brake job is a brake job....much like an oil change, it`s *extremely* straightforward....you don`t need a "German Technician" to do it, just a competent mechanic....
For the more complicated jobs, the Oldwick Garage is pretty good (Rt. 517 North in Tewksbury), they`re about 20 minutes northwest of Somerville. They work primarily on Porsche, Benz, BMW, Jags, etc.

Regards,
Bob
