 6 month wait for e90?

i asked my local dealer here when they were expecting to receive the first e90s and they said probablly another month or two. However, they are not allowed to sell any for 6 months. They can only be used to test drive and sit on the showroom floor...

Is that common practice among all of the bmw dealerships?

I don't know how common that is, but did you ask about ordering one? Depending on production speed, they may be only able to fill customer orders plus a few dealer demo's and not flood the dealer lots with stock.

I test drove the 2006 330i manual this afternoon and what a great ride. It is solid inside and out and has a great sound. The radio really sounds sweet. The car was silver with black interior and the lighter of the 2 wood trims. It had the sports package, but not the actve steering option. It did not have the idrive. All in All it was the best car I have test driven. I was considering the g35x, and the audi a4 and the 330xi. Of the three this car best suited my driving tastes and has the features which will make my daily drive easier. The bluetooth feature is a great plus, the other two cars do not have this option to date.
I have placed a deposit to order the car. The dealer will get a limited supply each month and can not even order the 330xi until sept, and they anticipate a delivery in late nov.
The car has more power than the 2005 330i I test drove last week, it is little quieter and the sports seat was very comfortable. The run flat tires and suspension gave a very smooth ride on the back roads and the bypass expressway. The manual shifting was effortless, the interior clean and neat. I can't wait totrade in the volvo for this E90.

E90's can be delivered as of May 6. There is a large supply of cars coming in the next couple of months. You can order one to your liking and receive it in 7 weeks. Car is sweet!

When I talked to my local dealer, they had 4 demo models available for test drives, etc. The salesman said that they weren't allowed to sell the demos until a later date, but they were taking orders for cars.

The earliest deliveries would be the first week of May (May 6th?). When I asked how long would it take for delivery after placing an order, he says about 4 weeks. I think this may be a bit optimistic, but it definitely wouldn't be 6 months!

I would like to get a 330i in early September, so I will probably put in my order in late July to early August. Hopefully by then dealers will be willing to negotiate the price a bit more.

Custom orders are taking around 8 weeks. I ordered the day prices were announced and it looks like it will take 7 weeks.

The xi are not planned to be released until the fall, hence it's not so much that the production time on those is long, they are just not making them yet.
