A full-sized iPod with the SendStation line out connector on the dock fits snugly (though maybe not perfectly) in the bay in front of the armrest (for those without iDrive) based upon a quick check. Additional support might be useful underneath for an extra sense of security.

This should allow you to view its display, though at a slight downward slope, as well as easily make adjustments. Overall, a good sign!
