I will be doing ED for E90 and from what I know the CD player has the capability to play MP3. Since I cannot do any testing but I would like to burn some CDs before the trip, I would appreciate advice from owners who have CD/MP3 players in their cars.
Can I make a CD with MP3s in multiple folders? How many nested folders are possible? Is the player going to consider the folders in any way (display) or ignore them?

I picked up my E90 last thursday.
I have the professional radio & the CD changer in the boot.
Both play MP3's and WMA's.
I just burned a standard CD (as if you were making a direct file copy) with a folder for each artist, with a seperate folder for each album in each artist's folder (i.e. 2 levels). The folder structure is entirely up to you.
I did not try to burn any deeper, but I will give it a try over the next few days.
When you insert an MP3 CD the system takes a few seconds before it starts playing, and when it does it shows "Track 0" etc.
After a few more seconds the radio displays a "List" option which allows you to see artist/track names, and it allows you to navigate the CD.
The navigation is not immideatly intuitive, but you get used to it quick enough. It uses a "Tree" type format (as per Windows explorer) with +/- beside each node which allow you to open/close each folder.
The porfessional radio is limited to a two line display, so you cant see a whole lot of info at any one time.
Hope this helps.
