Went to NY Auto Show (what a hellhole)

First it takes like 90 minutes to park (train wasn't an option from where we came from), and then every car on the floor has like 8 people sitting in it.

The only good thing was seeing the new E90 and the Lexus IS - was suprised that the E90 looks smaller in person, and actually looks just fine. Too bad I couldn't sit in it, and even check out the seats, there were always people in all 4 seats, lol!

The Lexus looks nice, but it looks huge, I prefer the old one's compact size. Enormous front overhang compared to the E90. In pictures I much prefer the IS, but in person, it's much closer. Inside looked very nice though.

And why were the Ford Focuses all locked, i can understand the Ferrari F430 being locked.

The EVOs are hot, I want one.

The Audi A3 looks tiny, wasn't feeling it.

I want an Evo too but I don't think I'm gonna get one

Good to know that the E90 looks small and that the IS looks large. Both of those were a concern for the wife who I'm hoping will agree to get one of those next year.

One of the main reasons I haven't been to the Auto show is for the very reason you mentioned, it'll be an adventure in cow hearding.

I went to the NYC Auto show last Saturday... We got there at about 8:00 PM, so the place wasn't as crowed as it during the day... No long lines for the cars, and I had plenty of time to get in the ones that I wanted including the E90... Yesterday was the second to the last day for the show, so there were probably a lot last minute people there trying to catch the show before it closes today...

I think that just about everybody who has actually seen the car says that it wasn't as big as the increase (on paper) in size indicates. Also, seeing it in the flesh seems to make most people think "hey, that's pretty darned nice", compared to their original "eh, it's OK" or "not feeling it".

BTW, if you get a chance to, the method some of us festers used was to attend the Wednesday night gala preview. We got to sit in many cars that are locked up tight during the regular show, including that Focus.

The BMW section had probably one of the most people milling about, and it was still kinda sparce.

Bastard!!

Seriously, my biggest concern about the E90 was it seemed huge in pictures (and the stats). In person however it doesn't look huge at all, it looks nice and compact. Even the front wasn't a turnoff in person.

Now I'm actually considering getting one (330i), though not the 1st year model - maybe a 2nd year model once the sport package has an aero kit.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IS A KVETCH/RANT/COMPLAINT/WHINE :

At least you Nueva Yorkers got to see the E90 - it wasn't at the Lost Angeles show! Lost Angeles, which surely must be one of the highest BMW sales volume areas in the world, where 3-Series are as numerous as Honda Civics, and you need a calculator just to count the various Bimmers in the average parking lot or garage - did BMW bring an E90 to LA? Nooooooooo!

Hey, BMW - why no love for the Left Coast?

END OF KVETCH/RANT/COMPLAINT/WHINE

PS: Yes, I know that it probably has waayyy more to do with the fact that the LA Auto Show is the first big show of the year, and that BMW didn't want to put the car out in the public in January - but still, LA should get something special every once in a while!
