 2005 v 2006

Getting ready to order my first 325xi. Should I take the 2005 xi manual w/ sand leatherette w/ premium and cold weather, or order the 2006 manual w/ leather and only the options I want? I'm going from 12 years of SUVs (kids grown up) and want to keep the AWD but finally get the BMW. I'll have to share my son's '96 Jeep until the 2006 is built!

I'd wait for the E90. xdrive is arguably better then the current all wheel drive E46 uses plus maybe you'll be able to get the real sport suspension with it.
If you don't need AWD, I'd get E46. There are great deals to be had on them and it's a fantastic car.

Thanks. It will depend on how soon I can order (and how bad the Jeep smells.)

Xdrive is supposed to be close to what the Nissan Skyline GTR's all-wheel drive system has, which is by far the most advanced in the world. You can dyno a Skyline on a normal 2 wheel drive dyno, by removing the fuse that controls the AWD. Once you pull the fuse, the car is a regular rear wheel drive car. So, it is basically a fully electronic system which reacts much faster than most mechanical systems.

IN LAYMENS TERMS WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN x DRIVE AND THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM THAT IS IN THE e 46 ?
