Does anybody use BMW assist?
Does anybody keep BMW assist subscription for longer than the first free year? I don't have a cell phone to use bluetooth but I would like to buy leather and power seats. For not much higher price is ZPP, which comes with dimmed mirrors, electronic compass and assist. I just don't know if the BMW assist is worth much besides nice antenna on the roof | | Reply » Does anybody use BMW assist? | Quote: Does anybody keep BMW assist subscription for longer than the first free year?
I don't have a cell phone to use bluetooth but I would like to buy leather and power seats. For not much higher price is ZPP, which comes with dimmed mirrors, electronic compass and assist. I just don't know if the BMW assist is worth much besides nice antenna on the roof | My first year subscription just ran out and I didn't renew. I was told by Assist Customer Service that they keep it active for 45 days after the one year date and then it's disconnected. I just passed that mark and haven't tried it. I didn't even use it once during the first year.
I would have renewed, but I'm too p.o.'ed over the lack of availabiltiy of bluetooth for my '04. I told them to lean on BMW and get the retrofit out and then I might renew. With just one year affected (it is now fully compatible and included w/bluetooth), I'm not holding my breath. I don't know if they're even going to bother with the retrofit. I haven't decided on what I'm going to do with my system yet, I will probably eventually rip it out and replace it with bluetooth.
BTW, we have an '02 Lexus LS430 and no one has ever used LexusLink in almost three years either. Overall I think it's a big scam and not worth it.

I didn't want a moonroof either, so I deleted the premium package altogether and got leather and power seats ala carte. The nice part is I'll now get the cooler looking oval mirror and won't have that awful looking sharkfin antenna. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on the extra techy stuff I'd probably never use.

I was told when I asked before that I could renew by calling Assist from the car. But they also told me that 45 days after my subscription ran out the equipment would be "dead" in the car. I couldn't understand how they would "disconnect" the phone remotely anyway.
If it stays like it is, then paying the annual subscription fee is really a waste of money. If a true emergency every came up, it seems like you could just renew right over the system when you call.
