Do these get hot in leatherette?

Dunno about 'ette, but with black leather in Fla I was a little dubious. I finally decided a black interior gets no hotter than a light one (drove a gray leather MBZ for four years, same place) but it stays hotter longer.

Where's Dave330i's 'scientific' study on this?
I say exterior color matters more. And leatherette gets as hot, if not hotter than leather, and both are WAY hotter than cloth.

Nothing scientific, but ever since, we've only had gray or nat brown leather because they feel cooler sooner .

And leatherette gets as hot, if not hotter than leather, and both are WAY hotter than cloth. | I am in agreement with Kaz' assesment and Dave330i's measurements. Like Kaz, I have anthracite cloth on my 2001, and it is COOL in summer. I speak from experience because summer temperatures in the Sacto area routinely approach 100 degrees F on a daily basis. I can park in the sun all day, open the windows remotely as I approach the car, and sit on the seats in shorts almost immediately! The leather steering wheel, (also black) is so hot it is untouchable for at least five minutes. The reason, I surmise, is that cloth is full of minute air traps, and the heat capacity of air is a lot lower than plastic, as well as leather. The initial temperature of cloth seats is undoubtedly just as high as plastic when the windows are opened. However, the heat stored in the surface of the cloth is much less than the heat stored in plastic so they cool (reduce temperature) faster because there is much less stored heat to disipate. These issues are much more important than the color. My vote is for cloth!

Had a Orient Blue 323i with Sand leather and then a Black 530i with black leather. The black leather was not any worse in the summer. Dean
