Nav problem - current position not updating
Wife was driving the 325i last night (2006 with nav/iDrive) using route guidance. The nav system suddenly stopped updating the car's position. It was like the car was not moving.
You can still zoom in/zoom out and scroll the map around, but the car's current position on the map never changes. When you put "Current Position" in the right hand window, the Lat/Long and North Arrow don't seem to change. However, it does seem like the altitude changes.
Anyone ever experience similiar problems or know if the system can be "reset"?

Wow.. very weird. You can reset your Idrive by simultaneously pressing the mute and the two eject buttons. Don't know if it will fix the problem, let us know.

Many Thanks. I'll repost if the problem crops up again and especially if I can find out why it's doing it. I had originally posted that the lat/long didn't change. I was only driving around a short distance when I was testing this and I guess not far enough to change lat/long. On a longer drive these would change. Also, the current position display would show a street name and this would update, but not accurately. For example, I might turn onto Main street and after a few blocks the display would read "Main Street". I turn onto Elm, drive along Elm for a while, turn onto Pine, then Oak etc. All this time the display reads "Main". Then after shortly after turning onto Juniper, the display chjanges to Juniper.
The car's position on the map never changed and the N arrow was always facing straight up.
I drove the car into the dealer and asked the service department if there was anyway to reset the system like a CTRL_ALT_DEL and he said: "No you have to bring it in". So, I booked an appt. I guess I'll have to cancel it unless it hangs up again.
