Hmm, I thought a nicer aero kit and rims might fix the E90, but I guess not. It looks better, but still an awkward design.

I like these wheels, but I'd like to have someone else clean them.
I think the biggest problem with the e90 is that the rear of the car is wide, but the track is narrow. So any stock wheels seem to look very thin for the body. These wheels seem to be much wider, and do a nice job of laterally filling the wells.
We kind of saw this with the e46 coupes. If you didn't have the sport package wheels/tires, the rear looked a little flabby.
Perhaps this is a good indication that there will be an e46 M3. They made sure there was enough room in the wells for some huge rubber.
