 E90 325i Engine size?

Is it a 2.5 or detuned 3.0?

I've read that both engines are brand new with the magnesium/aluminum engine block and Valvetronic, one at 215bhp (the 325i) and one with 255bhp (the 330i). Any idea?

Just got a new bulletin from BMW. They say that the two engines are 3 liters, but the 330i has a 'three stage intake manifold', and the 325i has a 'single stage intake manifold'. They say the reason that both cars have 3 liter engines are 1, of course to have more power, and 2, so the engine will meet 'current and future emissions regulations'. Other than that, they just released new 0-60 times for the 525i and 530i, and power and torque differences.

Thank you. Btw, it is an absolute fact. If I am wrong I will reliquish my part

Jon, do you know if it's Valvetronic? I'm wondering about the gas mileage and redline.

Thank you for clearing up the muddy waters.

Jon;
I hear from my dealer that prices (as well as the Official ordering guide) should be available by the end of this week.

Any chance that you'll be able to get them posted A.S.A.P.?

Looks like IŽll have to take some heat for my previous statements. IŽve been the one shouting at the top of my lungs about the "typo".

Sorry fellas...

still suprised by the torque numbers, seem likely they really strangled the output. Someone needs to slap one on a dyno when they come out.

The 2nd-gen Valvetronics rev to 7,000 rpm, and make power higher up than the 1st-gens. It is not beyond the bounds that BMW would make the engine without (they do this in the four-pot range, after all) but I would have thought that if emissions and efficiency were that important, Valvetronic would be highly desirable.
