VERY STRANGE that a lot who voted the 5 Series did not vote the M5 (40 to 3). They have pretty much the same body design and features that most everyone was criticizing (tailights, headlights, side doors, etc.) Hmm???

I'd bet it's higher than that. I'm sure some people didn't read the directions closely and realize you could vote for more than one.
My neighbor (the one with the open sunroof) has a new 5-series and an old 5-series.
Mileage aside, I'll take the older one any day.
And I'm not just a luddite. I like the e-46 better than the e-36, for example.
A neighbor who just traded a mini cooper for an E-46 sedan summed it up pretty well.
"The new one is kind of sterile."
It reminds me of a story in the Wall Street Journal a month or so ago, about how cars have gone from having friendly "faces" to snarling "faces." The new BMWs look like they're not so much snarling as smirking. If I want smirks, I'll just wait a few years until my kids become teenagers.

The M5 is a truly remarkable car trapped in a poorly designed body.

The 5 has grown on me. I would include the 7 before it's facelift. It's so much improved now. I have never liked the 6. It seems no better than a 5-Series, but with less practicality (i.e. it's no sports car). So I conclude that it's the X3 (the back, yuck!) and 6-Series (Bangle butt at its worst).
