335i Convertible Availability
Greetings, I got bit by the Bimmer Bug a while ago, but until recently have not had the means to acquire what I wanted. I decided to take the plunge with a 335i convertible since it seems like an awesome car.
Unfortunately, I visited a dealer (Rallye BMW in Westbury, NY) this weekend to work out a deal and was informed that I was looking at a 3-4 month wait minimum for the car as they are in short supply. They basically told me I could put down a $1K deposit for the privilege of getting in line to pay full sticker when a car finally does arrive.
Before I start calling all over the place, I figured I would check here to see what others have found. Is there really that long of a wait everywhere, and if so, any advice on how I can keep the wait to a minimum?
On a related note, I guess if they are in short supply, then I don't have much of an option besides full sticker price, but was curious what other here have paid for the car recently.
Thanks,
Jonathan

That sounds about right... good luck w/ your car search

I remember asking for a quote from my usual sales rep when the 335i coupe just came out, and she said she could only take off the dest. charge amount from the MSRP and there'd be a 6 week waiting list. And this was like, a month and a half after it came out!

THAT is how far behind they are with this one and the 335 coupe. If you want to order the car through a dealer allocation, it will not take that long. It depends on the dealer's allocation and when if they have a 335Cic on their list that is modifiable I JUST missed modifying one by a few days as I hadn't decided for sure on ordering until AFTER it became un-modifiable. Crap.
Anyway - at my dealer in Cleveland, I am getting mine for about $1,200 off sticker, and it was accepted with a production number last Friday. My build date is week 22, so I should take delivery in mid-July. Not what I was hoping for, but it's better than waiting until the snow is around the corner!
My advice is to call around different dealers, and don't be afraid to go out of town by even a few hundred miles. What's the cost of a cheap plane ticket to go pick it up if you get a better deal, and can get it THIS summer!
Good luck!

I just picked mine up at the local dealer since he had one on display that I did like, though it was what he called his show and tell model and I just happened to like it since apart from the Ipod adapter it had everything I wanted and more.
Was told that if I wanted to configure one I'd have to wait for an allocation to come in and that three guys were already waiting for one.
Guess it might pay to call around a little and see if some other dealer has one that hasn't been ordered.
Good luck man and otherwise wait for it, I think it's worth it.
