This is an old news. The real question is, will it become available to existing idrives as a s/w upgrade? I'm tired to plugging my razr to aux, and I will be happy to volunteer to write a bluetooth mp3 adaptor if they make the new s/w and sdk available for my idrive. This mp3 connectivity via bluetooth will be a deal maker/breaker for my next bmw.

Quote: IIRC, the earlier I Drive software was windows CE based or something. I remember that a lot of people with 7er and 6ers were having problems with the I Drive crashing when they tried to pair a bluetooth device, and this would immobilize the car.
Having a Java based upgrade would be smart, especially if it didnt require a major hardware upgrade.
Is that MP3 via bluetooth available in any cars yet? That would be pretty neat to have wireless Ipod and MP3 integration.

I have the SLVR.... can you hook this up to the AUX in the car? If yes, how did you do it?
