 Unorthodox Racing Pulley's!

http://www.ultrarev.com/Unorthodox_R...29-p25532.html

1) How are these?

2) How will I know which alternator kit to buy?

3) I read that some people experience dimming of headlights if you run subs or other high current applications along with new pulleys. I do have a BSW trunk sub, but how is this affected by more efficient pulley's?

4) Would I also need to buy new belts or can I use the existing ones?

5) What kind of hp/torque can these provide?

6) I have the Dinan stage 2 ECU, will I need reprogramming with new pulley's?

7) Will idle rpm be higher?

8) Is the power gain noticeable?

Thanks!

3. This can happen because the whole idea about underdrive pulleys is to slow the accessories. If you do that, the alternator puts out less power per engine rpm. Aftermarket electronics, especially amps and subs, draw greater than stock levels of electrical power so the output of the alternator can be exceeded. I wouldn't put underdrive pulleys on anything short of a full race car because you'll never notice those few ponies anywhere else, and I'd rather have full alternator power if I get stuck in traffic.
4. Maybe not - it depends if the accessory pulleys are slightly bigger than stock to the same amount the drive pulley is smaller.
5. 1~5hp at the most. These listed were not the more extreme underdrives that racers use.
6. I can't see why you would - nothing is really affected.
7. No - engine rpm is controlled by the computer off a timing wheel that is tied to the crank and not accessory belt driven. You would actually like a slightly higher rpm idle to make up for the loss of charging at idle, but that's not really an option or mostly needed.
8. No. Even the web page mentions that most of the gains come from weight loss of the pulleys, not the underdriving. How much "power" can be felt by removing at most a few pounds from a small diameter drive pulleys? Virtually none.

I've read a lot of people mentioning that the underdrive pulley's don't give a noticable boost to HP. When I added the pulley to my 3000GT VR4 Twin Turbo I felt a very noticable difference and it seemed larger to me than when I put on the downpipes, removed the cat or put in the custom intake. Not sure why, or what the right answer is. It was a big difference. And my A/C still ran COLD.
